The Payroll system provides flexibility and ease of use. One single person can maintain and process different payrolls from one or many companies, review calculations, print checks, generate historical information, and more. The process of formulation is controlled by the end user. There is no need of an expert programmer to define or implement payment concepts, deductions or provisions.

Sygnus/Payroll is a web application that facilitates remote data
entry, processing and data extraction from a centralized
database.
Sygnus/Payroll supports calculation needs for different working
conditions in various locations or countries. It has a user-friendly
and flexible formulation capability allowing definitions for each
payment or deduction concept.
Payroll calculations can be made for a group of workers or all
workers together. Recalculations are possible without any
limitation and comparison of results with previous period can be
made.

Functionalities Distributed data entry: The system provides facilities for individual or massive data entry. You can also load information from excel worksheets, text documents, etc.. Timesheets can be automatically loaded from the SYGNUS/TARGET module or entered by exception. Formulation/Calculation of payments and deductions: Each payment or deduction concept has an associated calculation formula. The “formulation” process is done using a special language developed by Sygnus (PFL) and can be utilized by an authorized payroll User, not needing a computer programmer for these tasks. This results on easier maintenance to adapt formulas to changing conditions. The PFL environment provides with helping tools to handle tables, parameters, functions, working variables, etc. It also provides testing facilities to validate inputs and calculation results independent of the overall payroll process. Processing of different employee categories/locations:SYGNUS/PAYROLL can process multiple companies and multiple payroll processes within a company. It can process exempt and non-exempt employees from different locations in a single execution. Handling of calculation results: The User can access information on-line, generate standard reports or use the Reporting Module to generate an specific report. Access to information is controlled by a Security Module and administer by a designated super-user. On-line screens show results by company, employee and concept. Standard reports include pay-slips, payments to retirement plans, Social Security, bank deposits and many more. Interfaces with banks and other institutions: SYGNUS/PAYROLL provides interfaces for regular payments with employee bank accounts, for salary payments, with the Tax Authority to report tax and health insurance payments and with Pension Plan institutions. Handling of historical information: After completion of a payroll cycle, all historical information is updated maintaining cumulative data for reporting purposes. Cost Distribution: The system provides a module for Cost Distribution according to formulas specified by the user. This distributions can be done using hours or percentages as a basis for calculation and by Cost Center or Project. All these distribution definitions are specified by the user interactively in the system which provides testing facilities to validate definitions. Generation of Accounting Vouchers: SYGNUS/PAYROLL allows for a variable definition of accounting structures, voucher types, filters etc. SYGNUS/PAYROLL has Interfaces with ERPs like Oracle, SAP, Peoplesoft, JD Edwards, Ellipse, etc. |
